A Personal Joy -The Scrapbook

PART ONE

To celebrate what would have been Michael Jacksons 52nd Birthday - I decided to spend this weekend working on my scrapbook. I was struggling with how to not to make my book just a breakout of his life and career and make it more personal - this has become the book that never ends. I keep thinking of things I'd like to have in it,lol lol The book has surpassed the traditional format and moved into a 12x12 Scrapbook Binder. This will allow me to move pages, add pages at my whim and expand the book.

What makes this extra special is not WHAT I am putting in it, but the PROCESS of making the page. The research, the handling of the pictures, the creation of the page. It is some of the most tranquil activity I have done - yet it can be quite emotional.

Though the work is best enjoyed in person - here is where I am with my craft. LOVE YOU MIKE (and your family).

Back to School with Mike

Was perusing Maximum-Jackson and came across someone saying that they had acquired some school supplies featuring Mike. I had seen this stuff on Ebay and had budgeted to get it, but when I found out I could just go to the store - I was on it!!

I copped these things above. I want to use them, but then again I don't, lol lol The journals are of particular beauty to me. I feel like they deserve my writing, my words, my thoughts, my prayers - and that they all will be encircled and protected by Mike. There are four in the set and I intend to get two more next pay period.

I probably will end up not using any of them, lol lol I can't wait to find some folders because those I will use.

Let The Festivities Begin

What a VANGLORIOUS Weekend! Tomorrow Michael Jackson would have been 52 years old. The fan base and internet family are alive and buzzing with tributes and other declarations of undying love for our man Mike!!

There are a couple of tributes here in the ATL, Spike Lee is having his party in Brooklyn and I'm having my party RIGHT HERE in my space!!

I will be showcasing some additional scrapbook pages and I intend to rock MJ shirts all weekend!!

This picture was making the rounds on these 'innernets' and it touched me. Her raw emotion on the shoulder of a wax figure touched me. Of course, it was getting clowned etc. but I saved it because I fully understood. It's a three dimensional representation of someone she cared deeply about.

Just recently and I mean recently - I have been able to go down the card aisle during Fathers Day. It didn't matter that my daddy was not standing in the store, the cards represented loss for me.

I got to thinking about how I would react when I had an opportunity to be beside the wax figure and then I remembered:

New Mike CD in November - My Thoughts

Soo Will.I.Am has come out against the supposedly CD of new material coming out in November as part of the huge Sony Deal with Mike's Estate.

Well I have a couple of thoughts, lol

So the problem with death is that anything that happens to,for or about that persons estates can only be assumed seeing as they are not here. The living put so much 'conversation' on the dead for their own means.

Also, the problem with 'perfectionist' is that it's an unattainable goal seeing as we are not quite sure what that is. We live in an actual medicore society - we have very low standards, lol So what is deemed imperfect by him would do just fine for us.

Michael held up his own career trying to recreate Thriller - I'm sure a whole bunch of folks told Mike that his work was light years ahead of folks currently in the industry - but his own psychosis hindered him from staying relevant. In my opinion Thriller was cool - but Thriller was cool because it was POPULAR - I have a whole laundry list of other works of his that I consider GREAT musically and that appeals to those that wanna hear him at his best.

Now, in my opinion, alot of his greatness - the greatness of being great without even trying will be revealed. Do we need 10 after his death CD's NOOOOO!! But I think we need maybe 2. I want whatever Rodney Jerkins and Neyo have contributed to. I personally want my last memory of Mike to be a soul based collection. Full Circle if you will.

I look forward to the 'new' music.
